Who is responsible for your data

EM Therapy is the practice of Elizabeth Moran, psychotherapist, based in Waterford, Ireland. Elizabeth is the data controller for personal information collected through this website. You can reach her at liz@emtherapy.ie or +353 86 328 4829.

What we collect and why

Enquiry form. When you send an enquiry we collect your name, email address, phone number if you give it, and your message. We use this to reply to you and, if you choose to go ahead, to arrange a first consultation. The legal basis is taking steps at your request before entering into an agreement (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).

Evaluation form. If Elizabeth asks you to complete the client evaluation form, we collect your contact details, age and gender, what you are seeking support with, current medication, any psychiatric diagnosis or hospital admission, and your answers to a short self-assessment. It is sent by email from this website's server to Elizabeth's mailbox and used only to prepare for your consultation. See the next section for how health information is handled.

WhatsApp, email and phone. If you contact Elizabeth directly, your messages are held in those services under their own terms. WhatsApp is operated by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for marketing to you.

Health information

Information about your mental health, medication and diagnoses is special category data under GDPR. We process it only with your explicit consent, which you give by ticking the consent box on the evaluation form (GDPR Article 9(2)(a)). You can withdraw that consent at any time by emailing liz@emtherapy.ie. Withdrawing consent does not affect any processing that happened before you withdrew it.

Once you become a client, your records are held as part of your clinical file, in line with the confidentiality requirements of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) code of ethics.

Services that handle your data

Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where they do, transfers rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.

How long we keep it

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how it is used, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent where consent is the legal basis. To exercise any of these rights, email liz@emtherapy.ie. We will respond within one month.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies until you choose to accept them in the banner. If you accept, Google Ads sets a conversion cookie that tells Elizabeth whether an advertisement led to an enquiry. If you decline, no advertising tag is loaded and no cookie is set. Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage so you are not asked again on every visit.

Google's own privacy policy explains how it uses the data it collects: policies.google.com/privacy.

Contact and complaints

Questions about this policy or about your data should go to Elizabeth Moran at liz@emtherapy.ie. If you are not satisfied with the response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission, Ireland's supervisory authority, at dataprotection.ie.
